Is Bloom Energy a Good Investment in the AI era?

In 2026, AI will be more popular than ever. Hyperscalers such as Google, Oracle, and Meta have all expanded their AI centers to adapt to the surge in AI demand. Most of these companies obtain their power from traditional power grids, which provide lower base energy cost but require an average interconnection wait of four years. Constructing a data center takes 12 to 18 months, making this lengthy construction timeline a major constraint and a significant bottleneck for AI and cloud computing growth. This is exactly where Bloom Energy comes in.

Bloom Energy is a company that designs and manufactures solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) power generation systems. Rather than power grids that take several years to connect to, they provide container sized boxes that sit next to data centers and make electricity on the spot.1 This is the main perquisite: BE isn’t a cheaper alternative, rather they provide fast and reliable electricity so that hyperscalers are able to meet massive power demands in just a matter of months. Furthermore, because their technology operates cleanly on natural gas and hydrogen, these fuel cells offer a much cleaner way to generate electricity; as a result, this process produces 92% less smog forming pollutants when compared to your conventional power generation.2 Another consequential advantage is its higher energy efficiency: without combustion, 54-60% of the fuel used gets turned into electricity, compared to just 30-40% in your typical power grid.3

KR Sridhar, Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Bloom Energy, said,
“Today, the world is moving from a century-old model of centralized power to a new architecture that includes firm, distributed onsite generation. Bloom is leading that transformation. What began with hyperscalers is rapidly moving across market segments because every business needs reliable power to grow. We are building the electricity platform for the digital era: power where it is needed, when it is needed, clean and always on.”4

In April of 2026, Bloom Energy signed a contract with Oracle where they agreed to supply up to 2.8 gigawatts of solid-oxide fuel capacity to power their AI data centers, which is equivalent to 3 power plants. On top of that, they signed another contract with Brookfield Asset Management in June of 2026, from $5 billion to $25 billion.5 These two massive deals allowed Bloom to raise their yearly revenue outlook significantly. As of October 22, 2026, they have achieved a record quarterly revenue of $1.24 billion, adjusting their full year revenue from a projected $3.9 billion to $4.4-4.6 billion now.6

Most recently, around a month ago, Bloom Energy officially joined S&P 500, meaning that this will significantly increase their exposure to institutional investors. During a time when they’re gaining traction rapidly in the AI market, S&P 500 inclusion is the perfect catalyst for stock demand.7 Especially since ETFs and index funds that track this stock index must purchase Boom Energy, this creates additional buying pressure to support their share price. Their credibility among investors has also skyrocketed as they have joined one of the most popular stock market indexes, allowing for them to gain more capital to support future expansion.

However, their long-term future is still uncertain. If their performance following the S&P inclusion doesn’t match its “high growth narrative”,8 then their stock price risks a major decline. Hyperscalers like Google and Oracle are committing billions of dollars to expand their data centers, but if AI adoption slows down, then the demand for power from companies like BE will drop sharply. Ultimately, Bloom Energy is a promising alternative to traditional power grids that is positioned to benefit from the AI-driven surge in electricity demand, but its long-term success will depend on whether or not they can sustain their rapid growth.
